Product Details
Product Overview
This Grade 5 Titanium front sprocket, nitrided to ~66 HRC, is a premium upgrade, not just a replacement part. Ideal for riders who demand:
Maximum drivetrain efficiency
Faster acceleration response
Reduced friction losses
High durability
Racing-level materials and engineering
This is a true performance upgrade for the 2017+ Suzuki gsxr 1000 drivetrain.
Low Friction Performance
This Grade 5 titanium front sprocket, nitrided to approximately 66 HRC, achieves exceptionally low friction when used with ceramic chain lubricants containing hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) (such as Motul C4).
Estimated effective coefficient of friction: ≈ 0.03 – 0.06 under real motorcycle operating conditions
Typical stabilized value with proper maintenance: ~0.04 – 0.05
The h-BN ceramic lubricant forms a solid lubricating film that is chemically inert to the nitrided titanium surface, protecting the hard TiN layer and preventing galling or adhesive wear.
This low friction level is significantly lower than conventional chromoly steel sprockets, resulting in:
✔ Reduced drivetrain friction losses
✔ Lower operating temperature
✔ Reduced wear on both sprocket and steel chain
✔ Improved throttle response and drivetrain efficiency
Surface Treatment
Advanced nitriding process
Approximate 66 HRC surface hardness
Optimized surface for steel motorcycle chains
Characteristic gold TiN finish
Recommended Chains
For best results, use premium-quality chains:
DID (ZVM-X / ERV7)
EK (ZVX3 / MVXZ)3dz
RK (GXW / ZXW)
Low-quality chains will reduce the performance and durability advantages of a nitrided titanium sprocket.
Recommended Lubricants
Ceramic-based or PTFE (Teflon)
✅ Motul C4 Chain Lube Factory Line (Ceramic)
✅ Putoline Ceramic Chain Spray
✅ Liqui Moly Ceramic Chain Spray
✅ Motul C2 / Motorex PTFE (street use)
These provide:
Extremely low coefficient of friction
High thermal stability at high RPM
No chemical attack on the nitrided titanium surface
Reduced dirt and debris adhesion
Lubricants to AVOID
❌ Heavy or industrial greases
❌ Extremely sticky chain lubricants
❌ Products with high active sulfur content
❌ Aggressive EP industrial oils
These may:
Increase friction
Attract abrasive contaminants
Reduce chain and sprocket service life
Cleaning & Maintenance Guidelines
✔ Clean the chain using a motorcycle-specific chain cleaner
✔ Avoid aggressive solvents
✔ Re-lubricate every 300–500 km (200–300 miles) or after track use
✔ Maintain proper chain alignment and tension
With proper maintenance, this sprocket can match or exceed the service life of chromoly steel sprockets, while delivering superior performance.
